Unlike many restaurants in Berlin serving Japanese food, you will not find any Thai or amalgamations of Pan-Asian dishes on Sasaya’s focused menu. In fact, the silly named sushi rolls that play a prominent role in westernized Japanese food are not necessarily the highlight of Sasaya’s servings either. Instead, Sasaya offers the freshest selection of fish, delicately prepared vegetables, and pure, seasonal dishes that are at once traditional and inventive.

A perfect meal is supported by a first class choice of sake and the quick service by Sasaya’s über-friendly staff. The fair prices are the icing on the cake. This place can get packed given its flawless reputation, so be sure to make a reservation!

Always totally booked, but for a good reason—this place is excellent. Reserving a table is sensible. I chill with my homies and business-dudes here. Absolutely my favorite Japanese restaurant.
