The original Hotel Berlin was opened in 1958. In the “Island of Freedom”, as West Berlin was known at the time, it was the forerunner of a new breed of hotel. Thanks to its perfect situation and passion for old-fashioned hospitality, the Hotel Berlin, Berlin, has long played a part in the history of Berlin.

Despite its size, the hotel never seems intimidating or impersonal to its guests. On the contrary, countless visitors over the years have learned to appreciate the discreet, personal service and the warm reception offered by the Hotel Berlin. Among the regular guests, heads of state, celebrities from the world of sport and other famous personalities such as Willy Brandt, Gert Fröbe, Hildegard Knef, Jesse Owens and Richard Burton have graced the hotel with their presence.

The Hotel Berlin is one of the largest hotels not only in the city but in all of Germany. Today it boasts over 700 rooms and suites; a variety of different restaurants and bars; a flexible, superbly equipped and efficient conference and events centre; and one of the few garden restaurants in the city.
